Malzeme fark etmeksizin, yüzey değerlendirmeleri yapan A. Ceren Asmaz; modern çağın insanı olgusu üzerine çalışmaktadır. Modern dünyanın bir paraleli olarak kurmuş olduğu ‘Gopitholand’, sürekli gelişen, çeşitlenen ve hayatın içinden gelen canlıların yaşadığı devasa bir köydür. Bu köyün sakinleri olan Gopitho’lar ise; sanatçının kendini ve insanı anlamlandırmaya çalışırken ortaya çıkan küçük canlılar, iyi ya da kötü içinde yaşanılan toplumun görünmez bireyleri olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu nedenle yağmurlu bir günde yan masanızda kahve içen bir Gopitho’ya rastlamanız ya da şansa en çok ihtiyacınız olduğu anda yanınızda bir Gopitho belirmesi mümkün. Yanlış yaptığınızda size kaşlarını çatan patronunuzun ya da her sabah aynı otobüste denk geldiğiniz o sevimli gülümsemenin sahibinin de Gopitho olması mümkün.
Gopitho’ların yaratımındaki amaç, gerçekliği idealize etmek değil, aksine hayatı olduğu gibi anlamaya çalışmak ve paylaşmaktır. Sizin de mutlaka bir yerlerde bir Gopitho’nuz vardır ya da belki siz de birinin Gopitho’su olabilirsiniz.
Gopitholand: Circus, serinin son dönem parçalarından oluşan bir seçki. Bu seçkide yer alan parçalar özellikle pandemi dönemi ile birlikte yaşanan mantık dışı olayların ve bu olaylar üzerinden yapılan açıklamaların bir yansıması olarak sirke dönmek üzere olan bir ülkenin uyarlamasıdır.
Where is this circus?
A.Ceren Asmaz, makes surface evaluations regardless of material; she's working on the phenomenon of the modern age human. "Gopitholand", which was established as a parallel to the modern world, is a huge village that is constantly developing, diversifying and inhabited by living creatures. The inhabitants of this village, the Gopithos, appear as the small creatures that emerge while the artist tries to make sense of herself and the human being, as invisible individuals of the society, whether good or bad. For this reason, it is possible to come across a Gopitho drinking coffee on your next table on a rainy day, or a Gopitho to appear next to you when you need luck the most. It is possible that your boss who frowned upon you when you do wrong, or the owner of that cute smile you come across on the same bus every morning is also a Gopitho.
The purpose of the Gopitho's creation is not to idealize reality, but to try to understand and share life as it is. You surely have a Gopitho somewhere, or maybe you are someone's Gopitho.
Gopitholand: Circus is a selection of the latest pieces of the series. The pieces in this selection are the adaptations of a country that is about to return to the circus, as a reflection of the illogical events experienced especially with the pandemic period and the explanations made over these events.
